# Enrolling Crew Members

Once a certification program exists, you can enroll crew members to track their certification status, milestone dates, and annual compliance requirements.

### To Enroll a Crew Member

1. Open the certification program from the program list
2. Click **Enrollments** in the top right to open the enrollments panel
3. Click the orange **+ Enroll Crew Member** button
4. In the enrollment modal:
   * Select a crew member from the dropdown — active crew members not yet enrolled in this program are listed
   * Enter the **Certified Date**
   * The **Expires Date** auto-populates to 36 months from the certified date
   * Adjust if needed
5. Click **Confirm Enrollment**

### Crew Member Filtering

The crew member dropdown automatically filters to show only crew members whose position matches the certification type:

* **Part 240 programs** show engineers
* **Part 242 programs** show conductors
* **Part 243 programs** show all safety-related positions

If you select a crew member whose position does not match the program type, an amber warning appears. You may still enroll them if your program covers that position.

### Annual Requirement Due Dates

When enrolled, the platform automatically sets Annual Monitoring Due and Annual Compliance Test Due to December 31 of the current calendar year — reflecting the FRA requirement that both tests be completed within each calendar year per §240.129.

### Enrollment Rules

* A crew member can only be enrolled in a given program once
* There is no limit to the number of crew members per program
* A crew member can be enrolled in multiple programs if they hold multiple certifications
