# What Are Training Modules?

Training modules are the individual units of instruction within a certification program section. They allow you to break down each section of a Part 240, 242, or 243 program into specific courses, on-the-job training sessions, computer-based training, simulator exercises, or written assessments.

Each module tracks:

* Module type (Classroom, OJT, CBT, Simulator, or Written)
* Duration in minutes
* Whether a passing score is required and what that score is
* The FRA regulation reference for that unit of training
* Whether the module is required or optional

Module completions roll up to section progress, and section progress rolls up to overall program completion. This gives you a full audit trail of training activity at the most granular level.
