# Logging and Tracking Deviations

A deviation is any departure from standard operating rules or procedures. Railnology's deviation log captures these events in a structured format and — where applicable — surfaces active approved deviations to Raillie so it can factor them into its guidance.

### Logging a Deviation

1. Navigate to **RegIntel** in the left sidebar.
2. Select **Deviation Log**.
3. Click **New Deviation**.
4. Complete the deviation record — date, rule affected, description of the departure, and any corrective action taken.
5. Save the record.

### FRA-Approved Deviations

If your railroad has an FRA-approved deviation or waiver, it can be marked with an active status and flagged to surface in Raillie. When surfaced, Raillie factors the deviation into its responses — noting that your railroad operates under a specific approved departure from the standard rule.

### Deviation Analytics

Navigate to **RegIntel → Deviation Analytics** to view trends, frequency, and patterns across your deviation log.
