# Approving or Denying a Verification Request

When a railroad requests to view your credentials, you receive a notification and can review the request in your RailID screen.

## Steps

1. Go to **RailID** in the left sidebar under **COMPLIANCE**
2. Click the **Verification Requests** tab
3. Find the pending request showing the organization name, requested credential types, and expiry date
4. Click **Approve** to grant access or **Deny** to decline

## What Happens When You Approve

* The railroad can view a verified snapshot of the credential types you approved
* Your RailID verification tier upgrades to **Railroad Verified**
* Your RailID strength score increases
* The request moves to your Past Requests history

## What Happens When You Deny

* The railroad is notified that the request was declined
* No credential information is shared
* The request moves to your Past Requests history

Requests expire automatically after 30 days if you do not respond.
