# What Is RailID?

RailID is your portable railroad professional identity on Railnology. It is a verified record of your certifications, work history, and credentials that travels with you across employers.

Unlike paper credentials or railroad-specific records, your RailID belongs to you — not your current employer. It can be shared with FRA-licensed railroads (with your consent) to streamline hiring, credential verification, and compliance checks.

Your RailID includes:

* A unique identifier (format: RID-YYYY-NNNNN)
* A strength score measuring profile completeness (0–100)
* Your career history across railroads
* Platform-verified certifications from RailCert
* Privacy controls you manage
