# Choosing a Knowledge Source

Raillie can search different knowledge sources depending on what you need. The knowledge source selector in the Raillie interface controls where Raillie looks for answers.

### Available Sources

* **Global** — searches Railnology's global regulatory library only. Available to all users.
* **Enterprise** — searches your organization's Private Knowledge Base only. Available on Professional plan and above.
* **Both** — searches both the global library and your organization's Private Knowledge Base, combining results. Recommended for most operational questions.

### Selecting a Source

Use the knowledge source selector in the Raillie interface to choose your preferred source before asking a question. Your selection persists for the session.

### When to Use Each Source

| Source         | Best For                                                                        |
| -------------- | ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| **Global**     | General regulatory questions, CFR reference, jurisdiction-specific rules        |
| **Enterprise** | Questions about your railroad's specific procedures, internal rules, timetables |
| **Both**       | Most operational questions — gets the most complete answer                      |

> **Note:** If your organization has not yet uploaded documents to its Private Knowledge Base, selecting Enterprise or Both will only return global results.
